The cozy season is upon us, and American travelers are looking to book their next winter getaway. Whether you’re on the lookout for a beach escape or a snowy wonderland, there are so many options worldwide to choose from that will fit your travel needs!
Just in time for booking, Airbnb launched their trending travel destinations for the upcoming season.
Based on global searches between Jan. 1 and Sept. 15 this year, the popular platform was able to narrow it down to 10 locations — 2 of which are in the same South American country.
With some of the warmest locals, diverse neighborhoods, and beautiful beaches, it’s no surprise that 2 of Brazil’s major cities made it on the list of trending winter destinations.
Let’s Hear It For The Perfect Weather
You know what’s great about traveling to other countries? Seasonal changes! When it’s winter in the U.S., it’s actually summer in Brazil between December and March.
During this time, the temperature remains steady at 79 degrees, making it the ideal weather for going for a swim and experiencing the variety of beaches throughout the country.
Who doesn’t love a winter on the beach? And if you’re lucky enough to visit in February, you may even get the chance to experience Carnival for yourself. (Which is set to take place between February 9th – 17th 2024)
The Season of Festivals and Fireworks
If there’s one thing Brazilians love, it’s a good celebration or 10.
From incredible light displays to colorful parades and traditional musical performances, Brazil celebrates everything.
Whether you’re a solo traveler or on a family getaway, you’ll find something that suits all.
December 25th: Natal/ Christmas
Similar to American traditions, Brazil celebrates Christmas through gift-giving, festive decorations, and typical holiday dishes.
It is a time for family and friends, and most people attend a midnight mass celebration on Christmas Eve.
10/26-01/21: Natal Luz
A tradition in Gramado (a small Alpine city in Brazil’s Rio Grande Sul) since 1985, this charming festival brings hundreds each year to celebrate with music, dancing, amazing light displays, decorations, Christmas trees, and fun to be had by all!
December 31st: Reveillon/ New Years Eve
If there’s something most cultures share worldwide, it’s New Year’s Eve festivities.
Fireworks, champagne flowing, and dancing until the wee hours of the night are some of the most popular displays that can be found at Copacabana Beach in Rio.
If you want to join in the tradition of 7 waves for 7 wishes, this is the spot.
February 9th-17th: Carnival
It truly is the biggest party in the world, and if you want to learn about Brazilian traditions, food, music, and culture, there’s no better place to do so than the Rio De Janeiro Carnival.
From the beaches to the cities, Samba music can be heard all around! This is one not to miss.
Beaches For All
What’s better than escaping the frigid cold to lay on a beach in 80-degree heat? With over 2,000 beaches across the country, Brazil is a winter-birds dream.
Thanks to so many options, there’s something for everyone.
From family-friendly sands to palm-tree-lined paradises, why not spend your day just beach-hopping? With these beaches also comes a huuuge array of activities to enjoy.
Parasailing, snorkeling, diving.. Grab your gear and get out there!
Activities For The Adventurers
If you’re over laying in the sands, then it’s time for you to explore the other adventurous side of Brazil. Rainforest hikes.
Small towns, sand dune surfing, wildlife spotting, or seeing the wonders of Christ the Redeemer up close and personal — find them all here.
Brazil allows travelers to choose their own vacation experiences. Start with a little relaxation, and end your trip with a few adventurous treats! There’s really no place like it.

No to Brazil. Visa required beginning in January. You need to provide your bank statement to obtain. Show $2,000 and 30 days of your transactions. Just say no.

@Walter, Brazil uses the principle of reciprocity for all countries. If someone from Brazil wants to go to USA they need to show much more info than just $2,000 and 30 days of transactions.
