Choosing a hotel can sometimes be the defining factor that can make or break a trip.

However, when a hotel has received international accolades, that can definitely make your booking decision easier.

And if the hotel you’re considering has been named as one of the best in the world? That makes it a no-brainer.

Five amazing hotels in North America recently achieved that when they were voted as being among the 50 best hotels in the world according to travel experts from The World’s 50 Best.

Spanning the Pacific coast of Mexico, the Yucatan, Quintana Roo, and New York City, these five luxury hotels are certainly worth a closer look.

One & Only Mandarina, Puerto Vallarta

Taking the crown of the best hotel in North America in these awards, the One & Only Mandarina lies on the gorgeous Pacific coast of Mexico.

It’s just a one-hour drive north of the hugely popular destination of Puerto Vallarta and sits like a hidden gem among the forested shores and jaw-dropping beaches.

The hotel does not have rooms; it has private villas with unique and secluded locations that include private pools with some of the most amazing backdrops that you’ll ever dip your toes into.

One & Only Mandarina also has a luxury spa that will allow you to sample ancient Mexican healing methods, such as the Temazcal ceremony.

Therapeutic spa experiences don’t come much more special than this.

Chablé Yucatan, Chocolá

The enchanting region of Yucatan in the Gulf of Mexico has long been a favorite destination for American travelers, so it makes sense that it’s home to some impressive hotels.

One such location is Chablé Yucatan, a five-star wellness hotel located near the tiny town of Chocolá, which lies about 30 minutes southwest of Merida.

This is an extremely secluded hotel that taps heavily into the ancient Mayan history of this part of Mexico – it is even built around a natural cenote (natural pool).

The rooms are decorated with locally sourced art and furniture and have been designed with input from famous Mexican interior designer Paulina Moran.

Hotel Esencia, Tulum

Here’s one for the beach lovers. Hotel Esencia lies on the stunningly beautiful stretch of the Caribbean coast near Tulum in Mexico.

With a range of rooms, suites, and villas to choose from, this hotel aims to offer a tranquil beach escape from some of the more boisterous party towns in this region.

The hotel was originally built as the home of an Italian duchess and boasts delicious boutique dining and unique experiences, such as the chance to help baby turtle hatchlings make their way safely to the ocean under the guidance of conservationists.

Aman, New York City

There’s just about every type of accommodation available in New York, but its luxury hotels are still pretty hard to beat.

A great example is Aman, which is regarded as Manhattan’s highest-priced hotel for a reason: it’s pure luxury.

Located in the Crown Building, this hotel boasts something that is most definitely a premium in New York City, and that’s space.

The suites and rooms are some of the largest in the city and are made to feel even more spacious thanks to the minimalist, Eastern-inspired décor.

They also offer incredible views of the iconic cityscape of the Big Apple and Central Park.

Equinox, New York City

This is fitness brand Equinox’s first hotel and is located in Hudson Yards.

As you would expect, almost everything in this hotel is geared towards health and wellness. That includes healthy sleep, with each room having high-grade soundproofing, precise temperature control with a digital tablet, and what they call ‘next generation’ blackout blinds.

A well-equipped gym is paired with a high-tech wellness spa, a 25-yard indoor saltwater pool, and a terrace overlooking the Hudson and city skyline of New York.

The health and fitness theme of this hotel can even be seen in the room service food, which the hotel claims is immunity-optimized.
