Seattle is more than just the birthplace of Starbucks, but a city rich in culinary delights. It goes without saying that with its coastal location, Seattle residents love their seafood. Teriyaki is a favorite among Seattle residents and visitors. This Japanese dish can be found all over town, including Grillbird Teriyaki in West Seattle, or even at the unusual King Donuts and Teriyaki and Laundromat, where you can eat do laundry and have dessert in the same place.
Geoduck is a very large clam with an unusual shape that is a treasure in the Pacific Northwest. Places such as Lam’s Seafood has these gooey ducks (as they are pronounced locally) along with many other culinary treats.
A Seattle hot dog is different from the hot dogs in another cities in America. The hot dogs here are covered in cream cheese and grilled onions. You can get a hot dog from a cart or stop by Deep Dive Bar at the Spheres for an extravagant hot dog loaded with salmon caviar, pickled jalapenos, and red onions.
A Dutch baby is a variation of a German treat. This fluffy, pancake like treat topped with lemon or powdered sugar. There are also many seasonal variations including Dutch babies topped with spiced pumpkin or other frosting. In Belltown, Tilikum Place Café, is the place to go for this delicious treat.
Head into Chinatown for a short rib pho. This excellent meat filled bowl is very tasty and satisfying. You can try of this wonderful dish at Pho Bac Sup Shop, plus other delightful items.
Where to Eat in Seattle
Capitol Hill is an area where you can get a variety of cuisines. This LGBT neighborhood has some fine and diverse dining options including great Mexican fare at Carmelo’s Tacos, and a romantic Italian dinner atSpinasse. You can also try the octopus or other Greek delights at Omega Ouzeri, or Laotian cuisine at Taurus Ox.
Ballard is a former fishing village that now has some great dining options. Meat Lovers should stop by Beast and Clever for premium, local pasture raised meat. A wonderful fine dining option is Copine, which features a three course tasting menu. Chef Eric Rivera also serves outstanding tasting menu dinners at Addo. Pizza lovers can get some tasty slices and much more at Delancey.
Georgetown is a historic district, but it has also become a top culinary destination in Seattle. The neighborhood is full of great dive bars like Star Brass Works Lounge and Jules Maes Saloon. Enjoy some Dungeness crab bucatini at Mezzanotte or try some delicious Hawaiian food at Kauai Family Restaurant.
A foodie trip to Seattle just would not be complete without a visit to Pike Place Market. This market is a Seattle institution and has been for over 100 years. At this market, you can purchase the best produce, seafood, and other groceries for cooking your meals. You can also eat at or take out from many wonderful eateries including fresh seafood at Emmett Watson’s Oyster Bar, or roasted halibut at Matt’s in the Market. Guests can also get their caffeine fix at Ghost Alley Espresso or indulge their sweetooth at indi chocolate.

The Chinatown-International District is where you can find many diverse Asian cuisines. Highlights include Thai Curry Simple, Japanese comfort food at Tsukushinbo, and dumplings from Dough Zone Dumpling House.
If you are near the Space Needle, there are many wonderful dining options. Paju has great Korean fare, or you can have a tasty cocktail at Triumph Bar. Pretend you are in Germany eating brats with an imported beer at Queen Anne Beerhall. For fine French-Creole cuisine, try Toulouse Petit. There are many more dining options just steps away from this beloved Seattle landmark.
