Mexico offers everything you’d want in a vacation spot in a neatly wrapped package — rich history, captivating culture, and natural beauty.
After all, there’s a reason why so many of the country’s hotspots have been breaking record after record while the rest of the world is still playing catch-up with pre-pandemic figures.
However, as the hottest months of the year fade away, there are 3 particular destinations that show unwavering levels of international attention and are still attracting tourists in record numbers.
3. Los Cabos
On the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula, Los Cabos emerges as a natural marvel where the desert meets the sea, leaving visitors stunned with its pristine beaches, dramatic landscapes, and abundant marine life.
Best of all – this is the perfect time of year to visit the gorgeous region.
So, if you’ve been struggling to pick a destination for your next big getaway, take this as a sign to put Los Cabos in the running.
The dreamy Mexican region is probably best known for its luxurious all-inclusive resorts that offer tourists the relaxing experience of a lifetime.
Unfortunately, this also means that travelers will have to foot hefty hotel bills that average around $600 a night.
With that said, since tourists seem to be flocking to Los Cabos so much so that they’re not only breaking the region’s all-time records but also putting it in the top 3 most visited destinations in all of Mexico, it’s safe to assume that many consider the experience to be worth it.
I also want to note that while Los Cabos is primarily known as a resort town, its true charm lies in the untamed beauty of the surrounding terrain.
The iconic El Arco, a natural rock formation, stands proudly at the meeting point of the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez, creating the most stunning backdrop for romantic sunsets and frame-worthy pictures.
Los Cabos is also the perfect destination for thrill seekers.
Here, you can embark on ATV tours through rugged terrains, go on once-in-a-lifetime diving exhibitions (during which you’ll encounter vibrant coral reefs, exotic fish, and even playful sea lions), or just sit back and go on a whale-watching tour.
If you’re more of a hiker, you’ll be happy to hear that there’s no shortage of stunning trails in the area.
I do want to point out, though, that it’s hard to beat the views you get on the peak of Mount Solmar, so make sure to make that one a priority.
2. Mexico City
While coastal cities are forever trending among beachgoers eager to experience Mexico’s gorgeous shores, the capital still remains a top destination for travelers, serving as the pulsating heart of the country and the living testament of its rich cultural heritage.
The stunning metropolis seamlessly blends ancient traditions with modern innovations, showcasing that Mexico has a lot more to offer than just its touristy resort towns.
Mexico City’s appeal lies in its historical landmarks, including the awe-inspiring Templo Mayor and the Palacio de Bellas Artes.
These sites provide a glimpse into the country’s pre-Columbian and colonial past and, thus, create the perfect setting for travelers to experience Mexico in its entirety.
I’m not even going to delve too much into the colorful mosaic that is the capital’s culinary scene.
Here, you’ll find some of the best eateries in all of Mexico, and the widely-renowned dishes that billions of people try to re-create all over the world can be enjoyed at their most authentic variations.
My advice? Prioritize street venders selling tlacoyos, pambazo, tortas, and tacos.
Better yet, go to a local market like Mercado de la Merced and get the ingredients as fresh as they come. Then, try to make your favorite dish from scratch.
Even if you’re not that experienced of a cook, I can assure you that the aromatic spices and fresh ingredients sold by the local vendors won’t fail you.
1. Cancun
As the no.1 international destination for Americans, Cancun needs no introduction.
Nestled along the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea, for Americans, Cancun is synonymous with paradise.
The allure of Cancun lies not only in its breathtaking beaches and vibrant nightlife but also in its rich Mayan heritage.
