A few months ago, Uber announced a new travel service that allows users to connect Gmail travel itineraries to the Uber App and coordinate flights, rides, and hotels. This new service, called “Uber Travel,” has been recently updated, just in time for the holidays!
In a recent post, the company shared new updates to the platform and announced that Uber Travel is now available in more than 10,000 cities across the world, including all major cities in the United States and Canada.
Uber Travel now has another interesting update, it will now allow travelers to link travel plans also from Outlook and Hotmail. That pairing option is no longer exclusive to Gmail users. The company explained as well that all the rides booked through Uber Travel will earn 10% back in Uber Cash, Eats orders, or rides, according to their legal terms.
But that’s not it! They have also optimized their Uber Explore and Uber Charter features. “We’ve teamed up with the experts at Viator and OpenTable to bring more tourist attractions, can’t-miss events, and must-try restaurants than ever into Uber Explore,” wrote Sundeep Jain, Chief Product Officer. So travelers will also get to see the best events, restaurants, and activity ideas at their next destination.
And the Uber Charter product, a new feature that allows users to book a party bus, a van, or a coach bus, is now available in more than 20 cities in the United States. The company suggests that it’s a great choice for group travel and a special opportunity for a company cocktail event or a ski outing.

How Uber Travel Works And Where
The first thing travelers have to do is to link their email account —Gmail, Outlook, or Hotmail— to their Uber app through the settings. After this, when they open the app, they will get to see their upcoming trips. By tapping on the preferred itinerary, the user can book a ride in advance and arrange all routes transportation to later just relax, travel, and get in their ride that should be ready at their location.
According to the information shared by Uber, the company only accesses travel-related emails. If a flight is canceled or delayed, and the user gets notified via email, automatically, Uber Travel will update the itinerary accordingly.
The company has not shared a list of the cities where it is available across the world, but the program debuted in New York City, Miami, Toronto, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Phoenix, Denver, Nashville, Charlotte, Fort Myers-Naples, and Charleston, and all major cities in the U.S. and Canada are covered.
In August, Uber Travel was launched in the UK and included train routes like Eurostar—a high-speed rail service— and an alliance with Omio —an app that includes different types of transportation— for travelers to choose the best transportation combination.
More Uber Updates
Uber also announced new updates for other products like a “Holiday Shop” for Uber Eats that suggests a list of products that users might need for their parties, the possibility to send gifts—using the “make it a gift” option at checkout and sending multiple packages to different destinations.
With Uber Explore, users will now get to choose and see the best restaurants, music, shows, and trending events and activities at any destination. “Whether you’re heading home to see family or enjoying a staycation, Uber Explore has got your seasonal entertainment covered,” said the post.
The company is expanding and anticipating users’ needs and has been especially beneficial for travelers. Uber is also competing against other companies with similar services that are considering travelers’ needs as well. Lyft has recently partnered with Alaska Airlines, and now Alaska Miles members can earn 1 mile per dollar spent on eligible Lyft rides across the United States and Canada.
