The Astronomical Clock
Get acquainted with Prague in the city center where you will find the gothic old Town Hall. From the street, you will see the strangely beautiful Astronomical clock, which has decorated the facade of the building for more than 600 years. Head up the tower for free, although you will have to pay extra if you want to see the magnificent interior of the hall.
The Charles Bridge
Admire the beauty of the Charles Bridge and the medieval castle on the hill as you cruise along the Vltava River. Prague Boats offer a variety of river cruises to suit your needs. Tour the river to Devil’s Channel to get a riverside view of the best sights in the city, or if you’re feeling extra fancy, pay the extra €2/$2.40 to upgrade to the prosecco cruise.
The Prague Castle
On the far side of the river, you will see the majestic Prague Castle looking down over the city. This UNESCO world heritage site is more than a thousand years old; and according to the Guinness Book of World Records, it is the largest castle complex in the world. You will feel like royalty fresh from a fairy tale as you stroll around the enchanting castle grounds.
The Beer Bike
If you need a little more incentive to get out and see the sites, take a ride on the Prague Beer Bike. The hour-long tour shows you the main area of the city center along with the best clubs, pubs, and restaurants. While your guide takes you through the city, you get to ride along on the beer bike with up to 14 friends and enjoy an unlimited amount of premium Czech beer.
The Bone Church
Journey just outside of Prague to the town of Kutná Hora to find this unbelievable heritage site. The ossuary of the otherwise unremarkable Roman Catholic Church is decorated in real human remains. Though some may find it morbid, it has a certain undeniable beauty to it. And if nothing else, it is unlike any other church you have ever seen.
The Absintherie
Prague has long been known as a popular place to chase the green fairies. No, not a real fairy but the rumored result of consuming the wormwood in the delightfully green drink absinthe. Learn about the popular Prague drink at the Absintherie; both a museum and bar, the Absintherie gives this magical drink the theatrical flair it deserves.
The Bohemia Jazz Fest
In mid-July, the Bohemia Jazz Fest will have Prague dancing the night away. For free live music in the gorgeous Vrtba Garden, this is an event not to miss. The garden itself was created to decorate the palace of Count Jan Josep and is a common setting for weddings and events due to its lovely Baroque style. Stop by during the day to stroll through the hedges, and enjoy one of the many painting and sculpture exhibitions happening this summer.
David Černý’s Prague Sculptures
For a truly unique view of the city, join the Prague Arts Tour to see some of the most famous sculptures by the Czech artist David Černý. The artist’s strange and often hilarious sculptures are known to be some of the most bizarre in Europe. It’s best to go as a group since the private tours are cheapest for large groups. Not to mention, you’re going to want someone to take your photo with these wacky statues.
The Cross Club
If you’re looking for an alternative to the usual cozy pub, Cross Club is something entirely unique. This multicultural center hosts live music events, theater performances, film screenings, and more. With its futuristic decor, freshly roasted coffee, and abundance of entertainment options, this venue has a lot to offer.
Letni Letna
If you are planning to pass through Prague at the end of August, don’t miss out on Letni Letna. This international festival of contemporary circus and theater is a spectacle you’ll be sorry to miss. The festival offers circus workshops and day camps for kids as well as Cirque-Du-Soleil-inspired acrobatics, theatrical performances, fire dancing shows, and more.
