5. Anaheim, California

Why is Anaheim so popular with travelers? One word: Disneyland.

This Southern California city has experienced a massive uptick in interest for the year ahead. As a whole, California is a super popular destination for travelers right now, especially sunny SoCal cities like Los Angeles and San Diego.

Nearby Anaheim is also having a moment. It’s easy to spend a couple of days here on a trip to Southern California to experience the magic of Disneyland’s two theme parks. Whether you have kids or are just a kid at heart, there’s never a bad time for a trip to Disneyland!

Although the Anaheim parks are smaller than their Florida counterparts, you can easily still spend two full days at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure for some nostalgic fun.

4. New Orleans, Louisiana

Another trending U.S. destination this year is New Orleans. This Southern city is the perfect winter travel destination because of its great weather and fun, lively atmosphere.

While The Big Easy is a party any time of the year (especially if you spend a lot of time on Bourbon Street!), the craziest time of year to visit is Mardi Gras. The Mardi Gras celebration in New Orleans is unlike anything you’ll find anywhere else in the U.S. — or the world!

This year, Mardi Gras falls on Tuesday, February 13.

There’s a lot more to New Orleans than just partying and festivals, though. It’s also one of the best cultural, musical, and culinary destinations in the country.

3. Honolulu, Hawaii

In case you haven’t noticed a trend yet, most American travelers are focused on planning vacations to sunny and warm destinations right now.

That’s why Honolulu is next up on the list. Located on the island of Oahu, Honolulu is one of the most popular destinations in Hawaii. It’s a great place to base yourself to explore the island’s excellent beaches and scenic hikes.

There are tons of hotels in Honolulu, and this city has the most nonstop flights from the continental United States. Winter is also the cheapest time to fly to Hawaii, so if you book now, you may be able to score some good deals on airfare.

2. Miami, Florida

Miami is another trending destination travelers are flocking to in 2024. This South Florida hotspot has been breaking all-time tourism records lately, and that growth seems like it will continue into this year.

If you’re looking for a sunny and warm getaway, you can’t go wrong with Miami. It has great beaches, like Miami Beach and South Beach, as well as a vibrant city atmosphere.

Miami is known for being an excellent destination for art, culture, food, and nightlife, so it truly offers something for everyone.

1. Orlando, Florida

Another Florida city takes the number one spot of trending U.S. destinations, and that is Orlando.

Much like Anaheim, Orlando is home to Disney theme parks. This is where you’ll find Walt Disney World Resort, which is made up of four theme parks and two water parks. It’s also the home of Universal Orlando, which consists of two theme parks and a water park.

It’s no surprise that Orlando ranks as one of the most fun cities in the United States!

Beyond theme parks, Orlando is also becoming known as a destination in its own right, with a great selection of dining, shopping, nightlife, and other activities.
