For American travelers, many of these warm-weather winter getaways are just a short flight away from the U.S., and all offer affordable prices and options for every budget.
1. Cancun, Mexico
There’s a reason that Cancun has been breaking tourism records and remains the most popular beach destination in the world for American travelers.
Cancun is convenient and cheap to get to — nearly 40 cities in the U.S. have nonstop flights to Cancun. There are tons of hotels and resorts to choose from, with options for every budget.
It’s a relaxing paradise with great beaches, nearby activities like visiting ancient Mayan ruins, and tons of dining and entertainment options.
And when the new Maya Train opens in December, visitors to Cancun will be able to make day trips to tons of exciting nearby destinations around Mexico.

Jamaica is ideal for a winter getaway this year, especially for travelers on a budget. This laidback island is one of the most affordable destinations in the Caribbean.
In Montego Bay, you can find all-inclusive resorts on the beach for under $300 a night.
3. Cartagena, Colombia
Another sunny getaway that’s perfect for American travelers is Cartagena, Colombia. This city on Colombia’s Caribbean coast is a mixture of colorful colonial architecture and culture that’s also close to some great beaches.
While there are good beaches just outside the city, the best beaches are a boat ride away in the Rosario Islands, a popular day trip from Cartagena.
Although Cartagena is more touristy and expensive than other parts of Colombia, it’s still a great value for money.
4. Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic has been surging in popularity with American travelers this year and it’s not hard to see why.

Food, accommodation, and activities in Bali are all very affordable, making this Southeast Asia destination perfect for a budget-friendly getaway.
6. Antigua, Guatemala
For travelers who want something different than your typical tropical beach vacation, add Antigua to your travel radar this winter.
Antigua is the colonial capital of Guatemala, and it’s perfect for a winter getaway. This beautiful historic city is filled with colorful buildings and cobblestone streets and is surrounded by dramatic volcanoes on all sides. It’s also affordable and easy to get to from the United States.

Similar to Bali, you may spend more money on flights from the U.S. to get to Phuket, but you can make up for it in savings once you reach your final destination.
Everything from hotels to food to activities is affordable here, and you can enjoy boat tours, delicious Thai food, and massages on the beach for very little money.
