Merida
Nestled in the heart of the Yucatan Peninsula, Merida is a cultural oasis known for its colonial charm served with a modern twist.
Though the capital of the iconic Yucatan state, Merida has often been overlooked by travelers in favor of its flashier, better-known counterparts.
However, if recent data is anything to go by, that’s all about to change.
Lovingly called the “White City” thanks to its unique architecture that heavily features white limestone, Merida offers visitors the kind of aesthetic appeal and timeless charm that goes well beyond fleeting trends.
Most of the city’s allure lies in its fascinating history.
Travelers can marvel at the iconic Paseo de Montejo, an avenue lined with grand mansions and historical sites that perfectly reflect the opulence of the 19th-century henequen boom; and afterward roam through the many vibrant markets, like Luca de Galvez, where they can really immerse themselves in the colors, scents, and flavors of authentic Mexican life.

Tulum
Famously situated along the pristine Caribbean coastline, Tulum has rapidly evolved into a bohemian paradise that flawlessly combines its awe-inspiring sights with a chic, laid-back atmosphere that virtually every free spirit on Earth is dying to experience.
While most of the world knows Tulum for its postcard-perfect beaches, travelers know that the town is also home to some of the most gorgeous Mayan ruins in all of Mexico, set against the breathtaking views of the Caribbean.
Here, you can explore the captivating archeological site before taking a refreshing dip in the nearby cenotes – can it get any better than that?
It’s worth noting, though, that Tulum’s reputation as one of the world’s trendiest destinations right now extends well beyond its gorgeous attractions.
The yoga studios, holistic retreats, and organic eateries that line the narrow streets are contrasted by a bustling nightlife scene that keeps young travelers coming back for more.
And if Tulum’s popularity hadn’t soared enough in 2023, the expansion of the Maya Train network this upcoming February promises to bring an even greater number of visitors to the dreamy town.

Isla Mujeres
Just a short ferry ride away from Cancun, Isla Mujeres has successfully managed to transform itself from an off-the-beaten-path destination enjoyed only by locals to an international hotspot that makes an appearance on every “must-see places in Mexico” list.
The mystical allure that coexists with the modern vibe and infrastructure on the island is owed to the fact that Isla Mujeres was once a sanctuary dedicated to the Mayan goddess Ixchel, and the region’s connection to Mexico’s ancient history is still as strong as ever.
These days, though, the place is most commonly known for its pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters, perfect for beachgoers and water sports enthusiasts alike.
One of the island’s greatest highlights is Punta Sur, which, just like the name suggests, is Isla Mujeres’ southernmost point and offers some of the most panoramic views of the Caribbean you’ll ever come across.
The nearby Sculpture Garden also showcases local and international tourists, so if you’re ever lucky enough to visit Isla Mujeres, a stop at this part of the island is a must.
