This past year marked unprecedented growth rates for the travel industry, with tourists always seeking new ways to get to remote, enticing destinations.
North America’s biggest carriers have promptly responded to the ever-rising demand by constantly introducing new flights and connections, and, as it turns out, 2023 still has some surprises in store for travelers looking for a wider range of options.
To celebrate the premise of a new, travel-filled year, Alaska Airlines has launched 9 brand-new routes to some of the world’s most coveted hotspots.
While most destinations included in this roster of new flights are relatively close to the U.S., they’re so diverse in nature and climate that no matter whether you’re looking for a short city break or a tropical getaway, one of these places is bound to grab your interest.
New Routes To Dreamy, Warm-Weathered Hotspots
As most of North America deals with the frigid cold of December, the premise of a sunny escape becomes more enticing than ever, which is why Alaska Airlines has shown a clear focus on warm-weathered hotspots in its latest expansion.
Two new exciting routes are connecting Los Angeles and Seattle to dreamy Nassau, so for those looking for a sign to visit the Bahamas this winter, this just might be it.
Both flights depart early in the morning, allowing travelers to make it to the Caribbean hotspot just in time for a fun night out.
If you’re looking to experience the (so widely hyped) allure of Mexico, instead, you’ll be happy to learn that Alaska also introduced two additional flights to some of the country’s most sought-after destinations – Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta.
These two routes that operate exclusively from Las Vegas are perfect for beach lovers trying to remember the warm, comforting feel of the morning sun against their skin.
If a mild-weathered getaway seems like just what you need but you want to keep your travel domestic this winter, Alaska Airlines has got you covered, too.
Their new daily seasonal flights from Vegas to San Luis Obispo, a criminally underrated Californian gem, will provide a much-needed break from the bitter cold.
While temperatures this time of year aren’t exactly beach-friendly, they’re still mild and pleasant enough to let you shed off some of those extra layers.
Mid-day temperatures hover around 65°F (18.3°C), so you can just bring a light jacket or hoodie with you and be good to go.
Lastly, travelers interested in exploring Latin America right now should try to take advantage of the newest LA – Guatemala City route.
The weather there right now ranges between 57°F (14°C) and 77°F (25°C) – can it get any better than that?
Major U.S. Hotspots Aren’t Forgotten, Either
Whether you’re planning a great winter getaway or simply looking for the most time-efficient way to get to see your loved ones this December, Alaska Airlines has got you covered with three additional domestic flights that connect some of North America’s biggest hotspots.
Southern Californians, in particular, will be presented with an excellent new opportunity to fly early morning from Palm Springs to New York every single day and experience one of the world’s most coveted holiday destinations firsthand.
If that weren’t enough, the region is set to be serviced with two other exciting routes connecting Orange County with Bozeman and Tuscon, two cities that offer enticing, yet widely diverse holiday experiences that cater to snow enthusiasts and sunshine seekers, respectively.
What To Know About These Flights’ Schedule
If any of the above routes piqued your interest, I’ve got good news and bad news for you.
The bad news is that only two of the flights, namely those from LA to Guatemala and Nassau, are set to operate year-round, the others have an expiration date.
The Palm Springs – New York and Las Vegas – San Luis Obispo routes are predicted to cease their services come May 15, 2024, while the other five flights will only operate until April 14, 2024, so make sure to move quickly.
Now, onto the good news – you’ll be able to embark on each of these flights several times a week, with some (e.g., LA – Guatemala City, LA – San Luis Obispo, Palm Springs-New York, Orange County – Bozeman, Orange County, Tucson) even operating daily.
