Air Canada Relaunches Flight Routes To Top South American Destinations

Air Canada announced this week that the airline will be launching an updated flight route schedule with services from Toronto and Montreal to major South American cities starting next month.

With daily direct flights to Sao Paulo and additional flights to Bogota and Santiago, Canadians have even more reasons to plan a getaway to South America.

Air Canada’s updated flight schedule for the end of this year and into 2022 includes a resumption flight routes as well as an increased capacity to top destinations throughout South America.

Whether you want to explore some of South America’s biggest destinations or take a connecting flight to a lesser-known spot in the region, there are a number of options available to you.

Here are the Air Canada flight routes to South American destinations departing from Toronto and Montreal.

Flights to Sao Paulo, Brazil

Starting December 8, flights from Montreal to Sao Paulo will resume with services 4 times/week. The airline has increased service from Toronto, with daily direct flights scheduled from December 6.

What To Do In Sao Paulo

Sao Paulo is Brazil’s largest city, commercial hub and actually one of the most diverse cities in the world. It’s an underrated destination when it comes to tourism, as Sao Paulo offers plenty of neighborhoods, cuisines and a thriving nightlife to explore.

Take some time and explore the Liberdade district, home to the largest Japanese population outside of Japan and a great representation of the diversity that a destination like Sao Paulo offers. For a memorable nature getaway just outside of the city, head to Parque Estadual Serra do Mar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with rainforest, mountains and coastline views.

Flights From Toronto And Montreal To Bogota

Direct flights from Montreal to Bogota will resume on December 2, with services 3 times/week. Flights from Toronto to the Colombian capital city will increase to 4 times/week starting November 7.

What To Do In Bogota, Colombia

Bogota has mountains, museums and a rich food culture to explore. It’s also a great stopover to other top destinations in Colombia. Take a flight west to Cali, the rumba and salsa capital of the world and take a trip to discover hidden beaches along the Pacific coast.

Or fly north to Medellin, a digital nomad hub that’s working to revamp its reputation. Head even further north to the Caribbean coast to Cartagena or Barranquilla, where you’ll find a fusion of Afro Caribe and Latin cultures that will have you inspired coming back for more.

Flights From Toronto To Santiago, Chile

Also in Air Canada’s updated flight schedule is Santiago, Chile’s cosmopolitan capital city. Direct flights will be available from Toronto starting in January 3 times/week.

What To Do In Santiago

Santiago offers epic views of the Andes mountain range and lots of history, culture and world-class nightlife to explore. The city is great for wandering, with unique neighborhoods and parks to enjoy for days. Use Santiago as a stopping off point and head west to Valparaiso, where you’ll feel like you’ve finally arrived in the South America of your dreams.

Flights From Canada To Buenos Aires

Argentina’s tentative reopening date is currently November 1, but nothing is set in stone yet. Pending government approval, Air Canada plans to offer flight services from Toronto and Montreal to Buenos Aires via Sao Paulo.

Air Canada’s Travel Booking Policy

Air Canada’s new travel booking and refund policy applies to all flights with the airline. If your flight is suddenly canceled or rescheduled by more than three hours from the original time of departure, you’ll be given a full refund in the original form of payment.

Travelers also have the option to get an Air Canada Travel Voucher to use for a later date or be given the equivalent value in Aeroplan Points plus 65% bonus miles.

And if you’re traveling internationally, make sure you have the travel insurance that’s right for you.

Travel Restrictions To South America

Each country in South America will have its own entry requirements, so make sure to check the local government guidance before travel.
