Now, the search results will go a step further and let you know the exact best window of time to book your flights for the lowest prices.
This is based on historical data, and Google has stated that the price trends from 2022 have stayed consistent so far in 2023, so this can give you a really good idea of the best time to book.

2. Search Flights To Flexible Destinations
Another way you can use Google Flights to your advantage is by searching for flexible destinations. If you don’t have a destination in mind yet, you can leave that field blank and just put in your departure city.
Google Flights will then show you a map with all the destinations you can fly to and the cost for the dates you have selected. This is a great way to browse and look for a cheap destination without having to make multiple searches for different destinations.
If you have flexible dates for your trip, you can change the calendar to search for weekend, 1-week, or 2-week trips in any given month. This will show you the absolute lowest prices for flights to all destinations during that month.
3. Google Flights Price Guarantee
Price Guarantee is a little-known feature on Google Flights that allows you to get a refund if your flight ends up dropping in price after you’ve booked it.
This is only available if your flight search shows “Book with Google” as a booking option.
Google Flights typically shows you the option to book directly with the airline or to book through a third-party travel agency. If there is an option to book with a third-party travel agency, you should also see the option for “Book with Google.”
It’s also only available on flights departing from the United States. Look for the badge that says “Price Guarantee” when you go to book your flight.
When you select this option, you will receive a refund of the fare difference if the fare ends up dropping before your flight.
You can receive up to $500 per year from the Google Flights Price Guarantee.
4. Set Fare Alerts To Track Flight Prices
Finally, Google Flights gives you the option to set fare alerts and track prices for a specific search.
If you have your eye on a trip but aren’t ready to purchase your tickets today, you can set a fare alert and get an email any time the price fluctuates.
You can set a fare alert for a specific destination and specific dates or just track all dates for flights to a specific destination.
This is a useful feature for when you want to keep an eye on a certain flight or all flights to a certain destination before you make your booking. Just select “Track Prices” to receive alerts.
